Mahalakshmi Ravishankar is a passionate Bharatanatyam dancer and performer, practicing this art form for over 11 years. She is a disciple of Guru Smt. Janane Sethunarayanan and has been training under her for the last six years. She completed her Arangetram under the tutelage of Guru Smt. Archana Mahesh, with whom she trained for five years, giving solo performances and playing key roles in her Nritya Natakams. Apart from dance, she holds diploma in TAALAM & NATTUVANGAM under the guidance of Mridanga Vidhwan Dr. Shri. G.V. Guru Bharadwaj.
Highlights :
• Performed at Raj Bhavan on two occasions in the presence of the Honourable Governor of Tamil Nadu and other distinguished guests:– To commemorate the inauguration of the newly constructed Parliament House– For the installation of the Holy Sengol and to honour the warriors of our country.
• Performed in numerous temples and sabhas during festivals such as Navaratri and Margazhi.
• Participated in various Natyanjali festivals, including Chidambaram, Thiruvarur, Thiruvavaduthurai, and Kumbakonam, as well as at the Vendampatti Nei Nandeeshwarar Temple.
• Performed at the Madurai Tamil Isai Sangam.
• Has been part of several group productions choreographed by her Guru Smt. Archana Mahesh, including “Eagan Anegan” and “Trinetrodhbhava Kaali.” She portrayed the role of Maha Periyava in the production “Pratyaksha Deivame Paramacharya.
Secured First Place in several intercollegiate solo classical dance competitions– Including SRM, SSN University, and Anna University in 2023– Received a special mention for her performance at IIT Madras.
• Featured in The Times of India, a renowned national newspaper, and spotlighted in prestigious Tamil magazines such as Kalaimagal, Paattum Bharathamum, and other local publications for her artistic talent.
Academics :
Mahalakshmi is a final year commerce student of Ethiraj college for women. She is part of Ethiraj Fine Arts Club of Classical Dance/Music.
